Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions govern the use of the Bill Payment Facility offered by State Bank of India through SBI Unipay.

Definitions

In this document, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings as set below unless the context indicates otherwise:

  • ‘NPCI’ refers to the National Payments Corporation of India.

  • ‘Aggregator’ refers to online payment aggregators. These companies facilitate online payments by acting as intermediaries between the Customers and the merchant/biller.

  • ‘Billers’ refers to government agencies, statutory bodies, companies, corporates, businesses, societies, charities and other entities that collect bill payments.

  • ‘BBPOU’ refers to the Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit working based on the standards set by NPCI. In the present context, State Bank of India will be BBPOU.

  • ‘State Bank of India’ or ‘SBI’ or the ‘Bank’ refers to State Bank of India, a Body Corporate constituted under the State Bank of India Act, 1955 and having its Corporate Centre at State Bank Bhavan, Madame Cama Road, Nariman Point Mumbai 400 021.

  • ‘Terms’ refer to terms and conditions herein for use of the Bill Payment Facility.

  • ‘Bill Payment Facility’ refers to the bill payment services offered by SBI to Customers through SBI Unipay. Payments can be done through multiple payment modes and payment confirmation will be received through SMS/ e-mail/ print receipts.

  • ‘Customer’ refers to end users of the Bill Payment facility.

  • ‘SBI Unipay’ means a website/application owned or operated by SBI for the purpose of offering the Bill Payment Facility.

Role of SBI in the Bill Payment facility

  • The Customer agrees that SBI is acting solely in the capacity of a facilitator of payments and not in the capacity of a beneficiary/biller/merchant.

  • The Customer understands that the Bank facilitates the Bill Payment Facility through:

BBPOU infrastructure where the Biller is registered with NPCI for bill payments.

Aggregators with whom the Bank has an agreement.

  • The Customer understands that all payments are routed through NPCI/Aggregator and the Bank has no direct contact with the Biller.

Instructions

  • The Customer agrees and accepts that the Bank, through the SBI Unipay, will enable bill payments basis instructions provided by the Customer from time to time.

  • Customer agrees that the record of the instructions given and transactions with the Bank shall be conclusive proof and binding for all purposes and can be used as evidence in any proceeding.

Refund Policy:

  1. All bill payments are final. Refund shall not be provided for the successful bill payments.

  2. Customer is responsible for correctness of bill details entered in the portal for Bill payments. State Bank of India is not responsible for any bill payments done for an incorrect bill detail entered by the customer/ User.

  3. In case of failed bill payment transactions, refund shall be given to the source account as per the Turn Around Time (TAT) stipulated by the Regulators/ authorised entities from time to time.

  4. As the SBI Unipay portal is equipped with the mechanism to facilitate the Bill payments using multiple Payment modes through multiple Banks, the users may approach their Source Bank (Bank account/ card/ payment mode used) to verify/ raise concern on the status of refunds if not effected within the TAT.

  5. In case of disputes, the complaint shall be raised through "Customer Support" option provided in the SBI Unipay portal.

Privacy and Security Policy

  • State Bank of India is fully committed to maintain and protect the privacy, secrecy, security and integrity of the information received by it from persons accessing its website in accordance with applicable statutes, rules, regulations and directions issued thereunder. State Bank of India adopts and implements best international standards and practices for protection, non-disclosure and privacy of information.

  • When a person visits SBI Unipay portal, the website administrator uses cookies to monitor and collect statistics about visitor's browser, including information about the time and date when a visitor accessed the site, the pages visited, the Internet domain and IP address from which the site was accessed and information on the browsing software he/she used to access the site. However, no attempt is made to gather or keep personal details to identify users except, in an unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a power to inspect activity logs.

Collection of Information

  • This website does not automatically capture any specific personal information from you, (like name, phone number or e-mail address), that allows us to identify you individually. Wherever the Website requests you to provide personal information, it is for the sake of assisting you in conducting the Bill payment and related actions. Adequate security measures will be taken to protect your personal information.

  • We do not sell any personally identifiable information volunteered on the website site to any third party (public/private), however, the needed data shall be shared with the enablers of Bill payment in a secured manner and with necessary precautions to assist the Bill payment journey.

  • State Bank of India may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if you request it to do so.

Storage of Information

As a Banking institution, the necessary records are maintained in a safe and secured manner as per its policy and in compliance with the statutory provisions and directions for the period required by it and as prescribed by laws and rules etc. State Bank of India does not allow any unauthorized access to the information stored by it in paper or electronic form. The information is securely stored and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Consents

The Customer authorizes and consents to (a) the Bank accessing and retrieving the Customer’s billing details from the Biller and (b) the Bank processing Customer’s data (including personal data) or sharing such data with Biller/NPCI, to the extent necessary for the purpose of Bill Payment Facility(c) The Customer further agrees and consents to receive SMS and email from the Bank informing about the bill payments.

Complaints and Dispute Resolution

In the event of any discrepancies encountered during a transaction, users are encouraged to raise a complaint directly against the specific transaction via the “Customer Support” section.

Complaint Status Tracking

The status of any complaints raised will be accessible within the “Customer Support” section for your reference and follow-up.

Complaint Handling and Resolution

All the complaints will be addressed and resolved by the concerned entity in accordance with the standard operating procedures laid down by National Payments Corporation of India/ other regulatory guidelines/ applicable guidelines.

Liability and Indemnity

In consideration of SBI providing the Customer the Bill Payment Facility the Customer agrees, at their own expense, to indemnify, defend and hold harmless SBI, its directors, employees, representatives, agents and its affiliates against any loss, damage, expense, cost, including, but not limited to, reasonable attorneys' fees and costs awarded suffered by them; or any claim, suit, action or other proceeding brought against them by the Customer or a third party, to the extent that such loss, damage, expense, cost, claim, suit, action of other proceeding is based on or arises as a result of or in connection with:

  • SBI or affiliates' execution of the Customer's instructions

  • A violation of the Terms by the Customer

  • Any unauthorised use of the Bill Payment Facility by the Customer

  • Any misrepresentation or breach of representation or warranty made by the Customer;

Under no circumstances will State Bank of India be liable for any expense, loss or damage including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any expense, loss or damage whatsoever arising from use, or loss of use, of data, arising out of or in connection with the use of this website. The Customer hereby agrees that under no circumstance shall SBI’s aggregate liability for claims relating to the Bill Payment Facility, whether for breach or tort (including but not limited to negligence) exceed the transaction charges/fees or consideration paid by the Customer within the previous twelve (12) months for bill payment facility excluding any amount paid towards transactions.

General

  • Withdrawal of Bill Payment Facility: The Customer agrees that the Bank is at liberty to withdraw at any time the Bill Payment Facility, or any services provided there under, without assigning any reason whatsoever, without giving any notice to the Customer.

  • Change of Terms: SBI shall have the absolute discretion to amend or supplement any of the Terms and/or terms and conditions stipulated by Bank and/or its Affiliates pertaining to the Bill Payment Facility and/or to any services/facilities offered by SBI. The Customer shall be responsible for regularly reviewing these Terms and the terms and conditions stipulated by SBI including amendments thereto as may be posted on the website. Such amended Terms stipulated by SBI will thereupon apply to and be binding on the Customer from the date of notice. By using any new services as may be introduced by SBI, the Customer shall be deemed to have accepted the changed Terms stipulated by SBI.

Modes adopted by Bank: Bank may adopt modes of OTP or ticking/clicking the ‘I agree’/ ‘Agree’/ ‘Agree’ and Proceed’ or ‘I agree and accept’ or any similar icon/tab/option online or any other mode for accepting and authenticating these Terms by the Customer, which may not be recognized under the Information Technology Act, 2000 for authentication of electronic records. The Customer hereby agrees and consents that the modes adopted by the Bank are acceptable to the Customer and that the acceptance or authentication of the Terms or transactions carried out through such modes shall be valid, binding, and enforceable against the Customer.

  • Notices: SBI may give notices under these Terms to the Customer in writing by delivering them by hand or to the registered e-mail address or by sending them by post to the last address given by the Customer and in the case of SBI to its corporate office address as set out hereinabove. In addition, SBI shall also have the right to publish notices of general nature, which are applicable to all Customers in a newspaper or on its web site located at https://bank.sbi or https://sbi.co.in or https://customer.sbiunipay.sbi. Such notices will have the same effect as a notice served individually to each Customer. Notice and instructions will be deemed served 7 days after posting or upon receipt in the case of hand delivery, cable, telex or facsimile.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Indian Laws. Any dispute arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India.

ACCEPTANCE

  • The Customer hereby expressly acknowledges and confirms that the Customer has read, verified, understood and accepted the Terms online by ticking/clicking the ‘I agree’/ ‘Agree’/ ‘Agree’ and Proceed’ or ‘I agree and accept’ or any similar icon/tab/option online, for as well as by entering the One-Time Password (‘OTP’) received in the Customer’s registered mobile number or by performing any bill payment transaction through SBI Unipay.
